I've never attempted automotive photography so I figured I might as well shoot my '32 Ford Highboy Roadster. Thanks to Jamie over at Classic & Exotic Motorcar Gallery, where the car lives, I was able to come in with all the gear to experiment with shooting the car. Needless to say, automotive photography is a highly detailed and painstaking process which I found very interesting and fulfilling with so many obstacles to overcome. There were some interesting challenges dealing with the car's best angles and then lighting it to enhance those angles without (or minimal in my case) harsh hot spots and reflections. I don't see myself pursuing this type of work but it was a great time messing around with this bad-ass car for an afternoon.
The '32 was my father's who spent many years in our garage building it until he passed away years ago and left it to me. For those of you who are curious it is a 1932 Ford High Boy Roadster with a supercharged & blown 454 big block under the hood. Basically this means that it is an EXTREMELY powerful engine sitting on 4 wheels with a reputation for scaring the hell out of anyone riding in it along with any pedestrians who dare make eye contact when they hear it coming. With the straight pipes (no mufflers) it pretty much sounds like Armageddon when it fires up. Cool.
Nicely done John.
