I've been pushing in some interesting new directions as of late and incorporating much more Photoshop into the work we've been producing. It's one of those tools in the arsenal which, when used to appropriately to enhance a scene, can really add an interesting look to the image and bring an image from good to great. The general philosophy here is to use PS as a way around technical roadblocks and not to make an image all about the PS application.
The images below I recently produced demonstrate two vastly different approaches to PS work in the image. The weightlifting shot was enhanced to bring out detail in the entire shot and to create an overall dark and moody feel to add to the sense of strength and determination. For the most part, the shot was lit and produced in-camera but PS was used sparingly for cleanup and object removal.
The jogging shot was produced as a way to push the bounds of my PS technique to see if it was possible to create a stylistic daylight on location. The intention was to be highly stylized while still maintaining a certain realism in the shot. It took many more plates than you see below but it gives you a good idea of the approach.
Thanks to Steve for his participation and professionalism in producing these images.
Nice shots especially the one at the middle.
